Today was the first day of C'H'C'M's 4-day pop up shop. C'H'C'M', a Brooklyn based online shop, carries some of the finest American and European brands and focuses on classic, timeless garments. Founder Sweetu Patel walked me through the shop and showed me some great items from brands such as Mackintosh, Lavenham, Saint James, S.N.S. Herning, Paraboot, etc.

Mississippi John Hurt
Mr. John Hurt was one of the most influential country blues guitar players of his time. He sang in a sweet, almost whisper like style which was the perfect compliment to his amazing bare finger picking. The video below is a live session performing his song "You Got To Walk That Lonesome Valley". More photos after the jump.
Bob Noorda Is Dead at 82
Just after my last post on typography I saw this NYT article about the passing of Bob Noorda. "Bob Noorda, an internationally known graphic designer who helped introduce a Modernist look to advertising posters, corporate logos and, in the 1960s, the entire New York City subway system, died on Jan. 11 in Milan, his adopted city. He was 82." Bob's best known work in the United States was for the M.T.A. signs in New York City which all of us New Yorkers still see everyday.“"Don't bore the public with mysterious designs”Mr. Noorda once said." A few images to remember Mr. Noora by:
Wm. H. Page Wood Type Catalog circa 1878
An amazing type catalog manufactured by The Wm. II. Page Wood Type Co. in Norwich, Connecticut circa 1878. It's astonishing how this 130+ year old type can still be perceived as bold and impactful.

Machotaildrop Trailer
Machotaildrop is co-written and co-directed by first-time filmmakers Corey Adams and Alex Craig.
"Machotaildrop is a highly visual and fantastical journey about an amateur skateboarder, Walter Rhum, who realizes his dream of turning pro and riding for the world’s greatest skateboard company… Machotaildrop. Set in an anachronistic time and place, Machotaildrop is the greatest skateboard company of its day and the regal and grand sport of skateboarding has been thriving for many generations. Walter’s journey serves as a window through which we discover the dark underbelly of what appears at first to be a benign skateboard company"
